Compassionate Life

It is often easy to be compassionate and loving towards others, especially family and friends, but how compassionate and loving are you towards yourself.

The other day while out and about I came across a second hand copy of the book, The Compassionate Mind by Paul Gilbert. I love the synchronicity, as I was aware that I was being very critical of myself on that day. Certainly not being compassionate and loving! I had been sent a photo that was taken of me a few weeks ago and I immediately upon seeing it became my own worst enemy. So harsh and critical! Now, I am someone who does self love mirror work daily, affirmations, meditation and morning pages, and yet, my critic was so prominent in my life. The book put a smile on my face, as it was a reminder to live a compassionate life towards myself, as well as others, and to practice mindfulness.

Yesterday, when out for lunch with a friend, I was also lovingly reminded to bring my attention back to the breath, just breathe, when the critic appears, and be gentle with myself.

Today my intention is to connect with my loving self, relax, and allow my breath to carry me through each moment. The critic is off enjoying a picnic. xxx

Are you being loving and compassionate towards yourself today?
