Walking

My healthy living tip for this week is ‘take a walk’. You might be surprised by how wonderful you feel after a walk. Go walking with the intention of being present to each step and each breath. Relax and take it slowly. Enjoy!

Many years ago I was facilitating a weekly group at the Bankstown Womens Health Centre and before commencement of each session we always went for a walk around a park that was just down the road. Regardless of the weather we always walked. Silently. Slowly. It seemed that a different group of women returned back to the centre from the group that arrived at the beginning of the walk. We were all more relaxed and more present. I always looked forward to our walks each week.

I especially enjoy my walks that are spontaneous. I call these walks ‘my mystery walks’. It is when I let go, live in the moment, and trust, that I am led to explore places that I have never been before. Maybe a beach, a park. There are also some wonderful walking holidays that you can experience.

Enjoy ‘taking a walk’ this week.
